ABOUT

I'm Justin Skiles, a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where I majored in Game Design, and minored in Creative Writing. I chose this joint study track because throughout my life, I've found myself revisiting two great loves: the exciting, interactive world of video games, and the insightful, thought provoking power of literature. This mixed background gives me a unique perspective into storytelling and interactive media.

If history's great novels have taught me one thing, it is that stories have a way of profoundly effecting people. Whether reading, watching a movie, or playing a video game, I always hope that by the end of it, I've learned something, and have come out a better person than I was before. Through interactive media in particular, I see incredible potential to have this effect on participants. .

Here, you can find links to some of my work, both written and interactive. I currently contribute to the gaming site Keen Gamer and run a personal blog on Medium. At Keen Gamer I focus on all aspects of video games, often reviewing them or offering personal insights into different aspects of the industry. My Medium blog is more personal, focusing mostly on different narratives and how interaction can be applied to them. My hope is that by continuing my study of storytelling and interactivity, I can help bridge the gap between them, and play a role in the creation of something entirely its own.
